Bio

So you want to know a little about me? Well, I'm a 33 year old part-time photographer. I was born in San Diego, CA, spent my young years in Lincoln, NE, and spent most of the rest of my life (except short stints in Virginia, Indiana and Michigan) in Maryland. My lovely wife of 5 years is Helen and we have two sons, Jonathan, who is almost 4 years old, and the new addition Stephen.

I am graduate of the University of Maryland with a BS in Accounting. I played tuba and marched with the Mighty Sound of Maryland at U of Md. While part of the Maryland Band, I was initiated into the Gamma Xi Chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi. It was while in the marching band at U of Md. I got my nickname "Tinman". I met Helen at U of Md while working at the University Book Center. She worked in Administration and I worked in Operations. I don't have a great love for the University itself, as many recent graduates don't, but I am a strong supporter of the Bands and the sports teams. (Actually not all the teams, when it comes right down to it I am a Nebraska Cornhusker Fan first. GO BIG RED!!)

The main reason I got into photography, or should I say back into photography, is because I went out and bought a new camera bag several years ago. I know many of you think that's amusing but the camera bag I had worked great when I was younger and had little equipment but was unmanageable when I got more than two lenses. Now I have two camera bags, two bodies, several lenses and lots of other stuff. I currently use Pentax K1000 cameras but hope to someday move up to a Canon professional model which will give me some more bells and whistles to play with. For the most part now I am using Kodak E100S & SW pushed to 200, and occasionally use Royal Gold when I need prints or if I need the speed of the 1000 ISO film. Yes, I am a Kodak man, I find that Fuji film, especially Velvia, color is too metallic, especially in the blues and greens. With my photography I am increasingly fascinated in the structures of nature and architecture and how sometimes they compliment or juxtapose each other. I am doing a lot of studying and practicing and am constantly trying to improve my craft. I hope you enjoy my work and I welcome your comments.
